Garrett Pro-Pointer Metal Detector – - – A Very Valuable Tool For Your Metal Detecting

One of the best tests as to how much to “value” a tool is to try and complete a task without using that tool.   The Garrett Pro-Pointer Metal Detector is a perfect example of this!  I live in an older neighborhood and was out in my backyard yesterday using my Garrett Ace 250 Metal Detector (a regular size metal detector) and my Garrett Pro-Pointer flashlight style metal detector looking for metal objects (e.g., coins, kids toys, old tools).  As I have said in previous articles using these two tools together is a deadly combination for finding metal objects.

We had a very heavy rain in the neighborhood a few days earlier, and the ground was wetter than normal.  Wet soil has a tendency to hold together (and also cling to buried objects) much more than dry soil does.  This makes it more difficult to physically see and find the metal object in the wet dirt in the “hole” you are searching through.  (The “hole” is the area in the ground that you have dug out to try and find the metal object that your metal detector has spotted.)

As I repeatedly went through the wet dirt in one hole I had dug trying to locate a possible dime that my Ace 250 had spotted about 6 inches under the ground, I thought to myself how much easier and quicker it was for me now to find these detected objects than it had been a few years ago.  All because I was now using the Garrett Pro-Pointer!   Regular metal detectors are critical to initially locating metal objects, but once an object is “located” it can still take you quite a bit of time to actually find the metal object.  I can remember in the past (before I had a Garrett Pro-Pointer) digging and trying to locate metal objects that my regular metal detector had spotted and too often being unable to find anything.  Since I have had a Garret Pro-Pointer that rarely ever happens anymore!   What brought this to mind was that after making repeated searches through the wet clotty soil and continually narrowing the search area (using my Garrett Pro-Pointer) in the hole where the object was located, I found the dime.  The dime was 48 years old – - – and still in good shape except for the tarnishing which made it difficult to spot.   A few years ago, before I bought my Garrett Pro-Pointer, I would probably have given up on looking with the thought that it must have been a false reading.

During the hour that I spent metal detecting,  I ending up finding a dime, a nickel, 4 pennies, a handful of nails, and one arm of a plastic Incredible Hulk toy that my kids played with many years ago and just happened to be buried near one of the metal objects I found.   It’s amazing what you can find in your own backyard!

If you plan on getting a regular metal detector or if you already have a regular metal detector but not a smaller pinpointing flashlight-shaped style metal detector to use with it,  I cannot urge you enough to get a Garrett Pro-Pointer Metal Detector. It will make a truly incredible difference in your being able to find metal objects much, much faster and make your metal detecting less frustrating and a lot more fun
